Flight Accident Claims
Despite being the safest way to travel, injuries from travelling on an aircraft occurs every year. Accidents can range from minor to major and can even result in death. Accidents can be very distressing for everyone involved particularly as the injury could have life-changing consequences. It’s important to seek legal advice when any accident of injury does happen on an aircraft or plane journey.
Claiming for an accident on a plane
When claiming for an accident that has occurred on a plane, it is important you check you have the following:
- Flight details and booking confirmations – This will be used to prove you were on the aircraft when the accident took place.
- The details of the person or persons involved in the incident – (if applicable) – This could be the staff details of the flight attendant or the passenger that has caused the accident.
- Any images of the accident that took place – This can be used as evidence. It could be of the injury and or evidence of spilling from a hot drink.
Common accidents on a plane
We’ve put together a list of possible accidents that we have personally handled claims for. These aren’t the only accidents that occur, but here are a few examples:
- Injuries caused by spillages such as air stewards spilling hot food or beverages over a customer which may cause scarring
- Injuries caused by defects such as an in-flight tray which is broken and causes injury or a seat which collapses due to being faulty causing injury
- Overhead luggage falling onto a passenger due to a defective overhead compartment
What to do when you’ve been injured
Before you make a claim check you have the following:
- Date of your accident: You can claim for an accident that occurred up to 2 years later.
- Proof of attendance: Booking confirmation, tickets or images of yourself on the aircraft.
- Evidence of accidents or injury: Hospital or doctors notes and/or images of the injury from the location of the accident.
