Gym Sticky Floor Injury

Our client is a regular attendee of a local gym and frequently takes part in fitness classes. While performing an exercise in one of the gym’s studios, our client’s foot caught on a sticky floor, causing her to tear her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

This injury resulted in a 12-month soft tissue injury to her knee, requiring multiple physiotherapy sessions and an MRI scan. The impact on our client’s life was substantial, affecting her mobility and daily activities.

We successfully argued that the gym had a legal responsibility to maintain a safe environment for its patrons and failed in its duties on this occasion. Through our investigation, we were able to prove that despite previous complaints about the gym’s poor hygiene and promises from the management to improve cleanliness, the floor remained dirty and poorly maintained. This lack of proper maintenance directly contributed to the accident.

The gym accepted liability for the incident and we successfully settled the case for over £4,000. This settlement covered our client’s medical expenses, physiotherapy sessions, and compensation for the pain and suffering she endured due to the injury.
