Rhinoplasty, which is also commonly known as a nose job is used to change the size or shape of the nose. Both men and women may be conscious about the shape or size of their nose.

Many people choose the procedure to balance the proportions of the face or eliminate a hump or to help with breathing difficulties.

Rhinoplasty patients tend to stay overnight in hospital after the surgery, so that the surgeon can ensure that you’re comfortable and feeling ok before going home.

Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes is usually less visible around a month after surgery. However, the final swelling can take up to a year after the surgery to settle down. The majority of surgeons suggest waiting till this final period before checking if the surgery has worked correctly or if any further surgery needs to be undertaken (often referred to as revision surgery).

Problems with a rhinoplasty can occur visibly on the outside of the nose or inside the nose and maybe a lot harder to see. During the aftercare checks the surgeon should be checking for any problems that may have occurred following the surgery and assessing what needs to be done to correct or treat the area.

Some of the problems that may arise with a rhinoplasty include:

  •           Infections
  •           Damage to nerves
  •           Abnormal nose shape
  •           Numbness
  •           Excessive scarring

If you notice of these things happening to you it is important to seek medical advice and discuss your options.

We understand that problems with your rhinoplasty can cause you to lose confidence and have a big impact on your life. We have trained specialist Solicitors that can provide you with support and speak the cosmetic surgery company on your behalf.
