Dangerous machinery accidents

Some of the most serious accidents we have dealt with over the years have been for clients injured because of dangerous or faulty machinery or equipment. Usually, these incidents take place at work.

It is your employer’s responsibility to ensure that all machinery and equipment provided at work is safe for use. If you suffer an accident because of faulty or defective machinery or equipment, you may have a good case for claiming compensation from your employer. For example, your employer may not have had any system in place for maintaining the machinery and this failure caused you to suffer injury.

Your employer has a duty to ensure that workers using machinery or equipment are adequately trained to use it properly and safely and understands any risks in using it. Your employer is also liable for any acts or omissions which another employee of theirs does or doesn’t do which causes you injury. For example, if your work colleague misused equipment because they had not been properly shown how to use it and it subsequently caused you injury.

Most of these kinds of accidents take place in:

  • Factories
  • Construction sites
  • Warehouses
  • Garages

Dangerous equipment can crush, trap and cut body parts which come into contact with them. Some of the most common injuries occurring in this way are:

  • Broken and fractured bones
  • Amputations
  • Crush injuries
  • Burns
  • Muscle damage
  • Even death

These injuries often leave employees with permanent symptoms such as constant or frequent pain/numbness, scarring and psychological distress. If you have been injured by dangerous or faulty machinery or equipment, we can help you make a successful claim with our aim always being to act in your best interests and maximise the compensation you are entitled to recover.
