Criminal Injury Claims & Compensation (CICA)
This type of claim is where a victim suffers injury as a direct result of a criminal or intentional act of another person. If a victim is assaulted by another person, that victim may have a claim against the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
The CICA is an organisation which will offer compensation to victims of criminal acts. Such cases are often fairly straightforward. Therefore, the CICA will not pay for any legal fees incurred. You may apply to the CICA directly should you wish and you may click on the link above to be re-directed to the website.
However, victims often feel that in the more serious cases, legal advice and guidance is necessary to ensure that they are being appropriately compensated for the injury they have suffered. Aequitas Legal has significant experience in CICA claims and can provide you with advice and guidance throughout the duration of the claim and dealing with any appeal to an award. We can still offer a type of “No Win, No Fee” Agreement where you pay nothing if the CICA awards you nothing. However, if you are successful in an award, then we shall ask you to pay a contribution towards legal charges incurred.
If you have been assaulted and are not sure whether you have a claim against the CICA, contact us or complete the enquiry form and we can advise you as to your options. There is no obligation to use our free initial assessment services, if you choose to make a direct claim with the CICA yourself.
