Winning ways for Salford firm

Aequitas Legal OfficesJUST two years after being launched a Salford Quays legal firm has recovered almost £2 million in damages for its clients.

Sucheet Amin, who previously worked for Sheldon Davidson Solicitors in Whitefield and national law firm, Thompsons Solicitors, started his personal injury law firm Aequitas Legal with just a secretary. It now has eight staff members including three other solicitors and a trainee solicitor, and Sucheet has just been made vice-president of Manchester Law Society for 2012.

The company has upscaled its offices in Imperial Court, Exchange Quay three times to cope with its growing business and has just reached the 1,000 client milestone.

Starting a new company in a recession took a solid business plan and firm vision, but Sucheet believes it has paid off. His open approach has extended to the company’s brief: two solicitors are keen cyclists so cycle claims have become a specialism for Aequitas.

“Law firms today always need to be flexible and ready to respond to reforms – and there are a number of legal changes on the horizon,” said Sucheet. “We are a relatively small firm so we can make changes quickly and deploy them equally fast to help clients.”
