Jeff Lewis of Brabners Chaffe Street takes over as President of Manchester Law Society on Monday, 5th December 2011 at the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
Jeff has worked as a solicitor in Manchester for 22 years, specialising in commercial litigation.
Jeff, who is a Partner in the law firm of Brabners Chaffe Street, aslo sits as a Deputy District Judge and practises as a mediator. Jeff enjoys advocacy and also holds Higher Rights of Audience in the Civil Courts.
Jeff lives in Halebarns with his wife, Bev, and their two children, Abigail, 7, and Edward, 5.
Jeff has always been an avid supporter of Manchester Law Society, becoming a Council member in 1999 and having been the Chair of the Society’s Civil Litigation Committee for the past 7 years.
Commenting on his appointment Jeff said “I am extremely proud and honoured to be President of Manchester Law Society, even though impending changes to the regulatory framework, the economic downturn and the increasing scrutiny of the profession will make it a difficult year for many of our members. We are here to support our members throughout all of the challenges they face, and I will be promoting the excellence of the profession during my year.”
Jeff will also be helping lawyers to celebrate their achievements and accomplishments at the Society’s Manchester Legal Awards in March, which recognises and rewards the wide range of skills and talent in the region.
Sucheet Amin of Aequitas Legal will be supporting Jeff in his role as Vice President. Sucheet said “Being a relatively young council member of Manchester Law Society means that I have a lot to learn but with Jeff at the helm, I will have a great opportunity to follow and support Jeff as he looks to promote Manchester’s legal profession.
